After the reading, I know there are three learning theories: Behaviourism, Cognitivism, and Constructivism. Different people use different ways for the student to have different effects. I come from China, in my country behaviouralism is a learning strategy that we always used. Many parents and teachers think more practice can easier to get higher grades, so we have much homework after class. These ways only have benefits for some students. There are still have some students who use this way cannot have motivation. Motivation is very important when we want to learn something. Learner motivation finds in Keller’s arc model. Constructivism is a good learning strategy. It is focused on from experience to study. This way is easy to let learners have motivation. When we have a similar experience, it is quick to remember what we learned before and reinforcement of learning.
I don’t like every science class, because I always feel confuses. Even I did more practice, I still cannot get a high grade. On the other hand, chemistry is the only class that I like in science. When I first took a chemistry class in the chemistry laboratory. The teacher taught how to use experiment equipment. These types of equipment I never used before. It lets me have more interest. Then, he did many experiments, and show the chemical reaction to us. I felt it is amazing, and I want to make it. So, I worked very hard in every chemical class because our teacher said if we did not study knowledge, then we don’t not how to do the experiment. The theoretical knowledge learned in the chemistry class is to verify the experimental results. It makes chemistry class more interesting, and lets us have motivated to study. If chemistry only studies from the book and notes, maybe I can’t get high grades and cannot have more interested in this class.
Last year, I also have a similar problem as Sijia Liu. The first time to take an online course is unable to arrange my study time. She uses the behavioralism to have own study habit is more effective to take self-learning.
